The Steadfast Tin Soldier
This year the Cedar Park Timberwolf Band presents their program “The Steadfast Tin Soldier” based on the fairy-tale written by Hans Christian Anderson in 1838. It is a story about determination in the face of danger while overcoming weakness and fear.
Much like the original story, our show presents three characters:
- The Steadfast Tin Soldier- “There were once five-and-twenty tin soldiers. They were all brothers, splendid in their uniforms, all red and blue…All the soldiers looked exactly alike except one, the last soldier made. The tin was short, so he had only one leg.”
- The Ballerina- “Prettiest of all was the ballerina who stood in the open doorway of the castle. Though she was a paper doll, she wore a dress of the fluffiest gauze.”
- The Jack-In-The-Box- “The clock struck twelve, and crack! Off flew the lid of the Jack In The Box.”
Our program introduces and follows these characters for our 8-minute journey. Some of the sights that you will see include: a magnificent toy castle, a book turning open, a rocking horse in motion, giant alphabet blocks, a life size jack-in-the-box, candy cane rifles, and three larger than life bookmarks to introduce our characters.
We hope you will enjoy our rendition of “The Steadfast Tin Soldier” and make a donation! All donations are tax deductible, as the CPHS Timberwolf Band Boosters is a 501(c)(3) organization.
